Leaving Khumjung today and headed to Phortse. We drop down into the river valley and cross the river and head back up the otherside to arrive at Phortse. Nice gentle trek with views of Ama Dablam. We will spend the night at a tea house. Tea houses have small wooden frames with a thin mattress that provides a little padding for the sleeping bag. The rooms are small and drab with no heat but the large room we all eat in are cozy and have a small cast iron stove that is fueled with yak dung. Lots of lemon tea or milk tea, soup, and some form of potatoes, white bread and rice or pasta or maybe canned tuna fish. Fruit cocktail for desert. The wifi when available is now so slow that I can’t upload photos. Will keep trying but it doesn’t seem to work.
